Girl Scouts of the Heartland Shooting Range: Designing with Purpose

Your community needs you.

At Greyten, we start with the basics: understanding the “why,” earning trust, and being a true partner. One of the primary ways we live out these values is through community involvement and giving back.

Currently, I sit on the property committee for the Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland, where I utilize my skillset as an architect and my passion for real estate. I give back because I believe wholeheartedly in their mission: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. When the property committee began studying the option of adding a shooting range to the Starwoods camp, we figured out the what and the where, and then immediately went to work on the how. This was a unique opportunity to utilize our professional talents for the improvement of our community. Because of our passion for the Girl Scouts’ mission, Greyten donated all architectural services to the project.

You deserve your project.

We often get asked what we “specialize” in, and my answer is always the same: “Your project.” This means we listen deeply to your specific needs and provide a tailored solution to your unique problem. We don’t provide cookie-cutter, repeat designs.

Because this was our first shooting range, we listened closely to the stakeholders and researched the latest safety requirements and design trends extensively. Every project deserves that level of personal attention. While we have vast experience across various industries, every owner comes with a unique set of challenges. Uncovering those challenges is what allows us to deliver an optimal design. As a result of this dedication, our team gave the Girl Scouts a safe, beautiful pavilion they can be proud of for generations to come.

Discover your passion.

We are architects and designers, and we love to support those who support our community. Everyone deserves access to good design. While writing a check is always impactful, I encourage you to roll up your sleeves and get involved. Go spend time with those you wish to help.

I challenge you to take your unique skillset and offer it to a local non-profit. Which one should you choose? Examine your heart, figure out what issues move you, and find the people who are already on the ground fixing them. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel—just come alongside them and offer your talents.

Our community needs you, and it needs your specific set of skills.
