Frequently Asked Questions
Do I actually need an interior designer?
A great space doesn’t happen by accident. An interior designer brings a trained eye for proportion, material, light, and flow — translating what you feel about a space into something you can actually live or work in. The difference between a room that looks pulled together and one that just looks expensive? That’s us.
Is there a project too small to take on?
No project is too small — we love a focused scope. That said, we do have a $2,500 project minimum to ensure we can give your space the attention it deserves.
I just want someone to style my bookshelves. Can you help with that?
That’s decorator territory, and we mean that in the best way — it’s a distinct craft. We’re designers, which means we work at the level of space, function, and material. But we know exactly who to call for the finishing touches. Ask us and we’ll point you in the right direction.
Can I see my space in 3D before anything is built?
Yes — and honestly, we think you should. Visualizing a space before it exists is one of the most valuable parts of the design process. We use 3D modeling and rendering to help you experience your space before a single wall goes up or a single piece of furniture is ordered. This applies to both interior design and architecture projects.
Do I need to bring my own contractors and tradespeople?
You don’t have to, but you can. Greyten has a preferred network of trusted contractors, builders, plumbers, and tradespeople we’ve vetted and worked alongside. If you already have relationships you trust, we’re glad to work with them. Either way, we’re coordinating the process — not leaving you to manage it alone.
Why do I need an architect?
Because a building that looks good and falls short on function, code, or budget isn’t really a success. Architects bring expertise in designing spaces that are beautiful, functional, and compliant — while navigating the real constraints of site conditions, regulations, and what you can actually build for what you have to spend.
When should I bring an architect into the process?
Early. Ideally the moment you think I want to build something or something about this space isn’t working. The earlier we’re involved, the more we can shape the outcome rather than inherit someone else’s decisions. Whether you’re running out of room, ready to invest in a space, or starting from scratch — we’re your first call.
Why Greyten specifically?
We’re more than architects — we’re partners who design with soul. Our work is shaped by five core values: humility, honesty, integrity, courage, and collaboration. Unlike traditional firms, we offer a unified approach that covers architecture and interiors under one roof, which means no handoff, no translation loss, and a single team invested in your project from first concept to final detail. We don’t just meet expectations. We transform them.
Can I see my space in 3D before anything is built?
Yes — see Interiors for details. This is something we offer across both architecture and interior projects, and it’s often where a project clicks into focus for our clients.
What exactly is this service?
We’ve spent years building relationships with furniture and décor vendors we genuinely believe in — brands that meet our standard for design, quality, and craft. Through Greyten’s curated furnishings service, you get access to that network, along with our guidance on what belongs in your space and why.
Can I see and touch actual samples before committing?
Yes. We can get samples in hand so you can experience materials, finishes, and fabrics before anything is ordered. Especially for larger investments, we’d expect nothing less.
What if I just want your recommendations but don't want to purchase through you?
We get it — sometimes you just want a trusted opinion. We’re happy to talk through what we’d specify for your space. Reach out and let’s start a conversation.
